Concrete-Steel

Beams, cold touch a Once blue sky.
And braided nests
Of steel drown with
Precision
In smooth pads of Liquid rock.

Sounds:
Rubber on pavement;
Horn;
Jackhammer;
Hollow wind;
Flap and coo of
Dirty pigeon,
No song.

And the beams are Fitted with glass,
Glass hung high, Alone,
That reflecting back
Between
Angular shades,
An orderly patch of
Grass and tree,
For Sunbathers
and Children to
Please.

Beneath a once blue sky.

Wild Places

Arise wild places!
Landscapes that with
Each day passing,
Reveal themselves
Both young and Ancient.

Where wind strips Snows
In folds of mysterious
Splendor;
Beyond which pale
Images float, adrift-
Spruce and silken
Earthly silence.
To melt and score deep
The rock of epochs
Vanquished, gone.
To make gentle
Crowns of tundra
Flower.
That greet the Humble traveler with
Silent prayer.
