DENNIS MUELLER
Oil
Paintings
Dennis was
born September 5th, 1943 in New York City.
His first 5 years
were
spent in New York and then his family moved to the Hudwon
Valley area where he grew up
with frequent summers spent in New York City. He and his family moved
to Colorado in 1988.
Growing up in the Hudson Valley area, Dennis had access to some of the
most beautiful landscapes in the United States.
This area was the inspiration for the famous Hudson River School of
painting. Combined with the natural beauty of Colorado,
it kept up his interest in someday pursuing art in a serious way. While
Dennis always had an eye and a desire to pursue Art,
it
was always a secondary pursuit at best as earning a living and raising
a family became the focal point of his life until retirement.
Upon retirement in 2002, Dennis set out to seriously pursue his
artistic ambitions.
He started out mostly self taught, reading and studying numerous books
and visual instructional tapes and discs.
Over the past 2 or 3 years he has studied with a number of established
artists and taken workshops to improve his skills.
He
has painted many yards of canvas and finds the challenge of
accomplishing the desired result "when it happens" to be very rewarding.
Dennis's preferred medium is Oils and he enjoys Plein-air and Studio
painting. He describes himself as a
representational realist painter and colorist. The subjects of his
paintings are Landscapes, Cityscapes, Peoplescapes,
and Portraits. His goal is to paint scenes as he sees them and
communicate the emotion or story
attahced at that moment of time. From a composition standpoint he will
not always be literal,
but will adjust the scene to communicate his observations and desire to
make the scene pleasing to the eye.
