Stained
& Fused Glass Creations
Arlyss Grosz, a North
Dakota native, retired to Colorado after a long career in
health care and higher
education. While drawing, painting and forming objects from
various media had always
been a hobby, it was not until retirement that Arlyss
found the necessary time
to concentrate on various artistic projects.
Her fascination with
glass developed out of a desire to create one stained glass
window for her home and
as she says now, it was like a vortex that consumed her.
Arlyss has studied glass
techniques with local, regional and national glass artists.
Her current work consists
mainly of fused glass, which basically means cutting
and joining pieces of
glass together by heating in a kiln. Arlyss works in her
home studio creating
visual art objects as well as utilitarian pieces.
Her work can currently be seen at the Foothills Art Center in Golden, pARTiculars in Lafayette,
Evergreen Gallery in Evergreen, Wild at Heart ARtisans Boutique in Lakewood
and Sangre de Cristo Art Center in Pueblo.
